MiraVia recently hosted its first-ever Homecoming this summer, bringing together former residents, current student moms, staff and friends of the College Residence for a special time of connection, memories and celebration.
A Home for Student Moms
MiraVia’s College Residence was created specifically for pregnant and parenting college students who want to continue their education while raising their children.
Located on the campus of Belmont Abbey College near Charlotte, North Carolina, the College Residence provides eligible student moms with a private suite, meals, childcare, material assistance, life-skills classes and a community of peer support – all free of charge.
Students do not have to attend Belmont Abbey College to live at MiraVia. Eligible residents can continue attending their college, university or trade school of choice, either online or in person, while living at the College Residence.
The goal is simple: help student moms have the stability and support they need to continue their education and build a future for themselves and their children.
More Than a Place to Live
For many former residents, MiraVia became more than a place to stay during college.
It became a community.
Student moms live alongside other women who understand the unique experience of balancing motherhood and higher education. Along the way, they build friendships, receive practical support and have the opportunity to grow in confidence as both mothers and students.
That sense of community was at the heart of MiraVia’s first Homecoming.
Former residents returned to the place that was part of their college journey. They reconnected with friends, introduced their children to people who had been part of their lives and celebrated how far they had come.
Celebrating Where Their Journeys Have Taken Them
One of the most meaningful parts of Homecoming was seeing former MiraVia moms return – not simply as former residents, but as women who have continued building their lives and families after their time at the College Residence.
Their stories are a reminder that becoming a mother during college does not have to mean giving up on an education or a future.
MiraVia’s College Residence exists to help remove some of the barriers that can make balancing college and motherhood difficult, including housing, childcare, food and material needs.
And the impact can continue long after a student mom graduates.
A Community That Stays With You
At MiraVia, we believe support doesn’t have to end when a student mom walks across the graduation stage.
The friendships, memories and relationships formed at the College Residence can become part of a mom’s story for years to come.
Our first Homecoming was a beautiful opportunity to celebrate that lasting connection and to look forward to the many student moms whose stories are still being written.
For current and future student moms, the message is simple: Your education matters. Your motherhood matters. And you don’t have to walk either journey alone.
